How the YM515 Positioning System Works

The YM515's core innovation is its ability to apply labels to a designated position on each bottle rather than at a random rotation:

Step 1: Bottle Feeding & Separation Bottles enter the conveyor and are separated by a spacing mechanism that delivers one bottle at a time to the labeling station. The bottle separation wheel adjusts for diameter ranges from 20 mm to 200 mm.

Step 2: Registration Detection As the bottle enters the labeling zone, a photoelectric sensor or optional camera scans for the registration feature—a printed mark, a molded seam, a logo, a hole, or an embossed detail. The sensor captures the feature's angular position and transmits it to the PLC.

Step 3: Position Calculation The PLC calculates the required bottle rotation to bring the target labeling surface into alignment with the label application point. This calculation accounts for bottle diameter, label length, and the angular offset between the registration feature and the target label position.

Step 4: Clamping & Rotation The bottle is gripped by the clamping mechanism (if equipped) or by the standard roller system. A servo motor rotates the bottle to the calculated position. The optional pneumatic clamping device provides additional stability for tapered bottles, conical containers, and thin-walled vessels that might slip or tilt during rotation.

Step 5: Label Application With the bottle positioned correctly, the label feed motor advances the label. The peel plate separates the label from its liner, and the application roller presses the label onto the bottle surface as the bottle rotates, ensuring a smooth, bubble-free wrap.

Step 6: Product Discharge The labeled bottle is released and conveyed out of the labeling station. The next bottle enters, and the cycle repeats.
